Lux Fidelium Privacy Policy
Lux Fidelium is made by Byteshire LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Lux Fidelium app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
The short version
Lux Fidelium does not collect your personal data. We have no user accounts, no advertising, no tracking, and no analytics that leave your device, and we run no servers that receive your data. We never see your prayers, your statistics, or your purchases. What the app stores stays on your device and, if you have iCloud turned on, in your own private iCloud account, which only you can access.
What the app stores, and where
Lux Fidelium keeps a few things so it can remember your place and your choices. On your device, and mirrored to your private iCloud database through Apple’s CloudKit so they reach your other signed-in devices:
- Your prayer statistics: which prayers you completed or left unfinished in Pray Mode, and for how long.
- The forms you choose for prayers that offer more than one.
Also kept for you:
- Your pinned Home tiles and your choice of what appears on Home, in your private iCloud key-value storage.
- Your preferred prayer languages, display settings such as Serif Text and your color theme, and where you were in a prayer, on your device only.
- Where the app offers scripture readings, any you’ve viewed, cached on your device so they open again without a connection.
This data lives in your personal Apple account; Byteshire cannot read it. If you turn off iCloud for Lux Fidelium, it stays only on your device.
iPhone and Apple Watch
When you pray on both devices, your iPhone and Apple Watch exchange your place in the prayer directly with each other through Apple’s Watch Connectivity. Nothing passes through Byteshire.
Scripture readings and the liturgical calendar
Prayer and the liturgical day on Home work without any of the requests in this section. Where Lux Fidelium offers daily readings, it requests that day’s page, and sometimes a chapter of the Bible, from the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, bible.usccb.org, and it requests that year’s liturgical calendar from the open Liturgical Calendar API at litcal.johnromanodorazio.com to know which feast or season a date falls in. These are ordinary requests for public pages and carry nothing about you, your prayers, or your statistics. Like any website visit, they reach those sites’ servers, which may log standard request details such as your IP address under their own policies.
Where Lux Fidelium offers a downloadable scripture pack, it downloads it from the public part of Apple’s CloudKit, anonymously.
Purchases
Lux Fidelium Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Byteshire never receives or stores your name, payment method, or any billing information. The app only learns from Apple whether your subscription is active.
Diagnostics
To help find problems such as moments when the app is slow to respond, Lux Fidelium records diagnostic events on your device, including the reports Apple’s MetricKit provides. They stay on your device and are never sent to Byteshire or anyone else. You can choose to export them from the app to send to us if you ask for help with a problem; nothing is shared unless you do.
Children
Lux Fidelium is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your control and data deletion
Because your data is stored on your device and in your own iCloud, you control it. Profile includes a Reset Statistics button that deletes your statistics on every device signed in to your iCloud account. To remove everything, delete the app and, if you wish, remove Lux Fidelium’s data from iCloud in your device’s iCloud settings.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this address.
