Discboard Privacy Policy
Discboard is made by Byteshire LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Discboard app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
The short version
Discboard does not collect your personal data. We have no servers, no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. We never see your boards, your music, your photos, or your purchases. Everything the app stores stays on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your own private iCloud account — which only you can access.
What the app stores, and where
Discboard saves your content on your device and mirrors it to your private iCloud database through Apple’s CloudKit, so your boards appear on your other signed-in devices. This data lives in your personal Apple account; Byteshire cannot read it. It includes:
- Your discboards — names, layouts, and the album covers you place on them.
- Wallpapers you choose, including photos you import.
- Cached album artwork and details (track listings, release year, genre) used to render your boards quickly.
- Song ratings and favorites you set.
- Diagnostic events (see “Diagnostics” below).
If you turn off iCloud for Discboard, this data stays only on your device.
Apple Music
With your permission, Discboard reads your Apple Music library and song ratings so it can show your album covers and play music. These requests are handled by Apple’s MusicKit and are associated with your Apple Music account through a token that Apple manages. Your use of Apple Music is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Photos
When you import a wallpaper, Discboard uses the system photo picker. Only the single image you choose is brought into the app — Discboard is never granted access to the rest of your photo library.
Motion
If the “Shiny effect” is enabled, Discboard reads your device’s motion sensors to tilt the light reflecting off your album cases. This happens entirely on your device in real time. Motion data is never stored or transmitted, and you can turn the effect off in Settings.
Sharing an album into Discboard
If you share a Spotify album into Discboard, the app requests that album’s public title and thumbnail from Spotify’s public oEmbed service, sending only the public album link you shared. No personal information is included. This is governed by Spotify’s Privacy Policy. Album artwork is otherwise fetched from Apple’s artwork servers.
Purchases
Discboard Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Byteshire never receives or stores your name, payment method, or any billing information. The app only learns whether your subscription is active, from Apple.
Diagnostics
To help diagnose problems across your own devices, Discboard records occasional diagnostic events (for example, when a track listing fails to load). These events are stored only on your device and in your private iCloud database, alongside a random identifier created on each install. They are never sent to Byteshire or any third party, and they are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Children
Discboard is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your control and data deletion
Because your data is stored on your device and in your own iCloud, you control it. To remove it, delete the app and, if you wish, remove Discboard’s data from iCloud in your device’s iCloud settings. Diagnostic events are purged automatically after 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this address.
